We use MUCHand MANYto express a large quantity. Much and many are mainly used in negative sentences and questions. However, they can be used in affirmative sentences when there is a formal context.
Much: we use it with uncountable nouns. (mucho/a)

Many: we use it for plural countable nouns. (muchos/as)
Has she got many friends?
There are not many apples in the basket. / There aren't many apples ...
A LOT OF (LOTS OF)
They can be used with both countable and uncountable nouns, although lots of is more informal. We use a lot of or lots ofin affirmative sentences.
