MUCH & MANY
We use MUCH and MANY to express a large quantity. Much and many are mainly used in negative sentences and questions. However, they can be used in affirmative sentences when there is a formal context.
- Much: we use it with uncountable nouns. (mucho/a)
- I don’t have much time.
- Have you got much money?
- Many: we use it for plural countable nouns. (muchos/as)
- Has she got many friends?
- There are not many apples in the basket. / There aren't many apples ...
A LOT OF (LOTS OF)
They can be used with both countable and uncountable nouns, although lots of is more informal. We use a lot of or lots of in affirmative sentences.
Translation into Spanish : mucho, mucha, muchos, muchas
- I have a lot of books. ( I have lots of books)
- He has a lot of money. (He has lots of money)
- There are a lot of pencils on the table. (There are lots of pencils...)
